Hair transplantation

The S.A.F.E.R.® (Suction Assisted Follicular Extraction and Reimplantation) automated hair transplantation technique is essentially an F.U.E. technique.

In the S.A.F.E.R.® automated technique, the practitioner makes the rotating punch penetrate to the level of the superficial dermis, and simultaneous aspiration makes it possible to harvest the entire follicle without any trauma, even when the angle of penetration of the punch is not perfectly within the axis of the hair. Thus, the practitioner can obtain 100% intact grafts.

The S.A.F.E.R. technique?

With the S.A.F.E.R.® automated technique, each graft previously spread out over a sterile field is picked up by aspiration using the second hand-held part of the instrument, then inserted into each incision by pressure from the piston of the hand-held part, the course of the piston being adjusted in advance, which noticeably increases the performance speed of the implantation phase. There is no longer any handling of the grafts with a tweezer, once again lowering the risk of trauma to the grafts.

Advantages of S.A.F.E.R.® automated technique

The S.A.F.E.R.® automated technique offers a certain number of advantages, explaining the growing demand of male and female patients:

• non-invasive, it is the only hair transplantation technique that can be performed in a private medical office

• painless: simple local anaesthesia is sufficient

• causes little bleeding, no deep stitches

• does not require dressings after the procedure

• no risk of infection or complications

• extremely fast and practically invisible healing in the days following the procedure

• allows several procedures without damaging the donor area

• provides the possibility of short "a la carte" sessions.

About the treatment

The S.A.F.E.R.® automated hair transplantation technique is quick, painless and stress-free.

Men and women naturally benefit from the S.A.F.E.R.® automated technique at any age as long as the donor zone is adequate.

Using the automated F.U.E. technique does not, however, allow for longer sessions than with the technique known as the strip technique. It is reasonable to estimate taking a maximum of 400 or 800 grafts during 2 to 3 hours of procedure, which represents around 1,000 to 3,000 hairs.

Nevertheless, people with very curly or frizzy hair or those having a very scarce donor zone are not good candidates for this technique. Your doctor will be able to advise you; do not hesitate to ask him or her.

Transplantation requires shaving, or cutting very short, a strip of hair at the back of the head (donor area); try to keep the length of your hair in this area long enough so that the shaved zone is covered up by the hair located just above it.

During the reimplantation of the grafts, you will be lying comfortably and can speak with the practitioner, listen to music, read or watch a movie on the screen. It is a non-stressful operation.

All or part of your transplanted hair may fall out during the days following the operation, which is perfectly normal. Since the hairs only grow about 1 cm a month, as all hair does, the aesthetic result cannot be truly satisfactory until after 5 to 6 months. Be patient!
