Reshaping of Outliers Auricles
The operation is aimed to change appearance of ears and close them to the head.
PREPARATION TO SURGERY
Before operation it is necessary to conduct an interview with the medical consultant. Medical consultant explains principles of the treatment, its procedure, possible results as well as possible complications. The patient receives consent to undergo surgery. The patient gives consent directly before surgery. If the operation is planned under general anesthesia there is needed Anaesthesiological Consultation, during which the doctor shall commission some basic blood and heart examinations (blood type, morphology, ESR, electrocardiography, etc.). Directly before operation the plastic surgeon talks with the patient and he ultimately decides to carry out the treatment.
ANAESTHETIZATION
The operation is held in children aged 7 to 13 years under general anesthesia, above this age and in adults under local anesthesia.
SURGERY PROCEDURE
The operation involves incisions behind auricle as well as remodeling of ear and reducing angle of its placing towards the head; Incision behind the ear and precision cause that these scars aren't visible. The operation lasts about an hour.
STAY IN THE CLINIC
After the operation on ears a dressing is put on. Stay in the clinic lasts from one up to a few hours. Sometimes at the patient’s request the stay in clinic may last longer.
POST-SURGERY PROCEDURE
On the first days after treatment a swelling, bruising and pain may appear. Symptoms usually subside after a few days. There are necessary 2 visits in the clinic in order to change dressings and remove stitches. The dressing is removed after 7 days. To the skin absorbed stitches which don't require removal are put on. Then the patient puts elastic bandage on ears at night for a period of 6 weeks. It is recommended so that the return to everyday activities was possible after 2-3 weeks from convalescence. Sporting is recommended after 3 months. It is necessary also to avoid high temperatures e.g. excessive sun exposure and solarium during 6 months after the operation.
CHECK-UPS
If it is possible, patients report to check-ups after 6 weeks and 6 months after surgery.
